Summer Programme 2024

Our Summer Programme 2024 was hugely successful! It was full of fun, learning, and community spirit! The children enjoyed enriching visits to the cinema and the British Museum, where history truly came alive. We also had an amazing experience at our ‘Happy Drums’ workshop, led by the wonderful Tony Bailey, which brought everyone together through the power of rhythm. During the session, we were joined by a group of Windrush generation ladies, who gave inspirational speeches and shared their own and their families’ powerful experiences.

Exploring Brixton Market was another highlight, where we introduced the children to the delicious variety of nutritious foods available in our community. The children were also taken on an exhilarating ride on the Greenwich cable cars, offering breathtaking views of our city. Additionally, we visited several local restaurants, giving the kids a chance to sample the culinary delights right in their own community.

In addition to all the fun, we supported our children and their families by distributing food parcel care packages, filled with nutritious meals and hygiene products, helping to combat food and hygiene poverty that can affect families over the holidays.

Although we originally planned a residential trip, we had to make some adjustments to our schedule due to safety concerns surrounding the recent riots. We prioritised the safety of our service users and staff by conducting thorough risk assessments, and we greatly appreciate everyone’s understanding during this time.

We are incredibly grateful to the London Community Foundation’s ‘Nourish the Nation’ scheme, in partnership with Comic Relief and Sainsbury’s, as well as Reaching Communities, for their invaluable support in making this year's Summer Programme possible.
